The invention describes a simulation system and a simulation method for studying the operability of a vehicle by an operator. The method is characterized by a primary data set with a fixed predetermined resource profile for solving at least one primary task when operating a vehicle.

In this way an elaborate simulation of the primary task is avoided and enables an effective linkage with a secondary data set, which affects at least one secondary task, especially the usability of a infotainment system and / or dialogue system while operating the vehicle. The primary data set and secondary data set are transferred to a simulation and a function of primary and secondary data set automatically determines the influence of at least one primary task on the implementation of at least one secondary task. Thus the effect of infotainment systems and dialogue systems in vehicles can be easily examined.

Autonomous Service Robot for Vacuuming Floors

A new exploration method for mobile robots is especially suitable for home and office environments. The robot also provides a flexible cleaning system, allowing adaptation to any kind of floor surface with any kind of obstacle and avoiding unnecessary repeat cleaning of the same area.

Self-localisation means that the method does not require a precise global map, nor does it rely on external markers located in the rooms or areas to be cleaned. Instead, the robot creates its own rough map by scanning the environment, so that the map comprises every obstacle which the robot can then avoid. Iterative scanning allows adaptation to arbitrary obstacles.

 

At each cleaning the surrounding area is scanned and simultaneously cleaned using an extendible arm with changeable cleaning elements. This new approach allows the robot to clean any floor space fast and thoroughly, while using little power.

By using standard microcontrollers the cost of robotic vacuum cleaners is affordable for personal use, as demonstrated by a fully-functional prototype.

Optimized Dehumidification Control Loop

In central air handling units cooling and dehumidifying of the air usually takes place using chilled water cooling coils with one of the two kinds of circuits: temperature controlled or mass flow controlled chilled water supply circuits. The invention combines both types, the temperature controlled and mass flow controlled chilled water supply in one water circuit arrangement. Thus combining the advantages of the temperature controlled circuit with those of the mass flow controlled chilled water supply circuit, without the disadvantages immanent in the two circuit systems.

A simple but very effective valve arrangement, combined with a variable speed pump (see Figure) allows simultaneous control of the mass flow and the water supply temperature. The supply water temperature determines the slope of the change of condition and the mass flow controls the cooling power applied to the air. This allows cooling the air with or without dehumidification as well as dehumidifying the air with a minimum amount of cooling, resulting in substantial energy savings.
